MARION TWP — The operator of a utility-terrain vehicle was killed, and half a dozen others suffered minor injuries as a result of a collision between a UTV and a paratransit van on Boyers Road in Marion Township on Friday afternoon, Jan. 16.

The crash was first reported over Butler County Emergency dispatch just before 12:30 p.m. Friday, and involved a UTV and a white Ford Transit, which was used for paratransit services. Both vehicles showed heavy damage and were towed away from the scene by 3 p.m.

“The six people that were in the paratransit van were taken to Grove City hospital,” said Doug Dick, chief of Superior Ambulance Service. “They were all minor (injuries).”

According to Dick, the cause of the crash is currently unknown and still under investigation.

A section of Boyers Road was blocked between Harrisville Road and West Sunbury Road while emergency crews investigated the wreckage. State police, as well as volunteer fire departments from Harrisville and Marion Township, responded to the crash scene.

Korynne Young, the newly elected coroner for Butler County, said Friday afternoon that the coroner’s office is in the process of contacting the next of kin of the deceased and could not release the person’s identity.
