Butler man charged with theft from vehicle
A Butler man is sitting in Butler County Prison after allegedly swiping money and valuables out of the cars of two Domino’s delivery drivers.
Sebastian M. Sorg, 23, is charged with two counts of theft from a motor vehicle in connection with an incident on Monday, Jan. 12, in which police say he was caught on an outdoor security camera entering multiple parked vehicles on Butler’s Main Street and taking personal belongings.
According to a police affidavit, two Domino’s delivery drivers reported the theft to police shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Monday. A security camera located across the street at the Alliance for Nonprofit Resources building spotted a man entering multiple vehicles parked near the Domino’s.
A man was seen taking a wallet containing $100 and multiple credit cards out of one vehicle, and some spare change and a $30 vape out of another, according to the affidavit, which said he tried to enter a third car but could not.
The following day, according to the affidavit, police were able to track down a man who wore clothing identical to the individual spotted in the security footage. He was arrested and identified.
Sorg is unable to post the $2,500 bail amount and is confined to Butler County Prison. His preliminary hearing is set for Monday, Jan. 26, in front of District Judge William Fullerton.
