No injures in Butler apartment fire

No one was injured after an apartment building on North Chestnut Street in Butler caught fire Sunday morning, Dec. 28.

According to Chris Switala, chief of the City of Butler Bureau of Fire, one resident was initially trapped during the fire but escaped.

“They were trying to put the fire out and they suffered some minor smoke inhalation,” Switala said. “They refused any treatment or transportation.”

No others were in the building at the time, according to Switala.

The building on North Chestnut Street is a residential building divided into three apartments, but only one of them sustained any fire damage. Switala said the apartment is still livable.

“The fire damage was confined to the entryway of the building,” Switala said. “There was just some minor smoke damage to the living room.”

Switala said the cause of the fire is still undetermined.

In addition to the City of Butler Bureau of Fire, VA Butler Fire & Emergency Services, Butler Township Volunteer Fire Department, Butler City Police and Butler Ambulance Services also responded.
