Dassa McKinney Elementary reopens after boiler, pipe issues
Just one day after Dassa McKinney Elementary School in Moniteau School District moved to remote learning due to mechanical and water issues, district officials reported the problems have been fixed and the school operated normally on Thursday, Dec. 18.
The district said on Wednesday the school was moving to a remote learning day after experiencing mechanical and water issues due to a heating system failure. Students and staff at the building operated on a two-hour delay schedule.
Michael Panza, vice president of Moniteau School Board, said Thursday the school made the switch to remote learning after the building’s boiler failed. He also said some pipes froze due to the heating failures, but both problems had since been fixed.
“We’re all good now,” Panza said. “Kids are back in school today and tomorrow for their last day before winter break.”
