Inmate accused of attempting to smuggle Suboxone into jail
An inmate at the Butler County Prison is facing charges after a correctional officer found Suboxone during the booking process.
Allen Griffin, of Oil City, was charged Wednesday, Dec. 10, with two second-degree felonies for allegedly smuggling in and possessing buprenorphine hydrochloride and naloxone hydrochloride, a Schedule III drug.
According to the police affidavit, on Nov. 25, a correctional officer was performing a strip search on Griffin when he noticed something concealed in his mouth.
Police said the contraband, which consisted of several orange strips, was later examined and are believed to be Suboxone.
Griffin’s arraignment is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Friday before District Judge William Fullerton.
