Lighthouse Foundation closes on former furniture store
The Lighthouse Foundation, a Christian nonprofit and food bank based in Middlesex Township, has closed on the site of the former Furniture Galleries store on Pittsburgh Road in Penn Township and plans to move its headquarters there.
According to a Wednesday, Nov. 5, news release from the foundation, site work and planning on the new headquarters will begin early next year.
“This is more than a building. it's a testament to God's faithfulness," said Victoria Spreng, executive director of the Lighthouse Foundation, in a news release posted to the foundation’s Facebook page. ”We’ve only begun to see the amazing things He has in store. This new facility will help us shine His light brighter, serve more families in need, and continue walking in faith as we share His love with our community."
According to Butler County property records, the foundation purchased the property from the Offstein family for $1.8 million. The purchase closed Oct. 31.
The furniture store closed its doors in 2023 after more than six decades in business under the Offstein family. It remained vacant for the next two years, although the Offstein family was listed in Butler County property records as having owned the building until this October.
A representative from Gateway Engineers spoke about Lighthouse’s plan to move to the site at a Penn Township board of supervisors meeting on Oct. 14. The transformation process reportedly will involve the addition of a new parking lot with 38 additional spaces, as well as the expansion of the existing parking lot.
