Restitution, probation ordered in kiosk break-in sentence for Evans City woman
An Evans City woman was sentenced Thursday to pay $5,725 in restitution and serve probation for her role in breaking into a payment kiosk in November 2024 at Madd Skillz Gaming at Greater Butler Mart in Butler Township.
Tressa Lee Kirkwood, 37, was sentenced to serve 60 months of probation in addition to paying the restitution after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of theft by unlawful taking filed by township police.
Co-defendant Jason L. Priester, 23, of Slippery Rock, was sentenced in May to serve three to six months of confinement followed by 36 months of probation and to pay the same amount of restitution and a $300 fine after pleading guilty to the same offense.
Police responded to the gaming business at 3:17 a.m. Nov. 27 after security personnel reported two people wearing ski masks used crowbars to break into a payment kiosk.
Officers from the township and the City of Butler caught Priester and Kirkwood behind the shopping plaza after they tried to flee. Police said the pair were found with a duffel bag, crow bars and three cash boxes from the kiosks containing cash, police said.
