BC3 trustees purchase new furniture, flooring for student union
BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College’s student union will be receiving over $150,000 in upgrades in the near future.
The college’s board of trustees voted Wednesday, Oct. 15, to approve two quotes regarding furniture and flooring for the facility. Both contracts were acquired by COSTARS, the state’s cooperative purchasing program.
“It was time to upgrade this area,” Brian Opitz, executive director of operations, said during Wednesday’s meeting. “We’ve got those plans well underway. It’s really going to be a dynamic area for student use and student life use.”
The furniture, which includes tables, chairs, booths and couches, will be purchased for around $128,000 from KI Furniture. The flooring will be purchased from Butler Flooring for $43,000.
No timeline was immediately available on either project.
