GoFundMe started for man injured in Oct. 10 crash on Route 8
A man injured in a Friday, Oct. 10, crash on Route 8 in Penn Township remains sedated in the intensive care unit in Allegheny General Hospital, according to a GoFundMe page created on his behalf.
Shannon Ace was on his way to work around 6:25 a.m. when a tree fell in front of him. His Jeep Wrangler went airborne over a guardrail near 313 Pittsburgh Road and down a hillside, the GoFundMe said.
The GoFundMe raised $1,257 of its $7,500 goal in its first 12 hours and nearly $3,800 as of Tuesday evening.
Ace was flown to Allegheny General Hospital and will remain sedated on a ventilator until his pain subsides.
Ace sustained a broken back, broken neck, broken ribs, a broken sternum, multiple facial fractures and other minor injuries. The GoFundMe said he has undergone one of several surgeries he will need.
“Shannon has been a dedicated diesel mechanic for many years as he supported his family,” the GoFundMe said. “We’re kindly asking for any help towards the families future expenses, medical bills and financial burdens his wife and children are faced with over the next several months being by his side.”
