Police: Butler woman accused of attempting to assault neighbor with knife

A Butler woman is accused of attempting to assault a neighbor with a knife in a Virginia Avenue apartment, according to police.

Lillian Lee Anthony, 23, was charged Monday, Sept. 8, with felony aggravated assault following an incident the same day in the 300 block of Virginia Avenue.

Police say they were dispatched for a report a woman tried to assault the caller with a knife. Police arrived and spoke with the caller, who said Anthony raised a knife at her as if she were going to slash her in a downward motion.

Police said the caller reported being able to take the knife from Anthony before she used it on her. Once the caller had the knife, Anthony hit her with her hand on the side of the head near her ear, according to police.

Police then went to Anthony’s residence and found her frantic, they said. Anthony admitted to being intoxicated and was irate with officers when telling her side of the story, police said, adding it did not match the caller’s account.

Police said Anthony screamed racial slurs at them when asked for more detail and slammed a door in an officer’s face before she was detained.

Anthony’s preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Monday before District Judge William Fullerton. She’s being held in Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.
