Caroline Montgomery
Caroline Jones Montgomery, of Lexington, Ky., died peacefully Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the age of 100.
Born in Greenville, Pa., she was the daughter of Thomas and Lois Wehr Jones.
She graduated as the valedictorian of her high school class in Butler. After earning an associate degree at Thiel College, she worked in the insurance field in Cleveland, Ohio, where she met her husband, Wayne Copeland Montgomery. They were married in 1950, and made their first home in New Orleans, La.
After living in New Orleans for three years, her husband was transferred many times and they lived in the New York area on two separate occasions and ultimately in Pittsburgh, where they made their final home together in Gibsonia, until her husband’s death in 1992.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and volunteer. As an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, she was an ordained elder and Stephen Minister. She served on the boards of Mars Home for Youth and Hosanna Industries and was a member of Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, the National WWII Museum and the Captain John Waller Chapter of the NSDAR in Kentucky.
Surviving are two sons, Douglas (Beth) Montgomery, of Wexford, and Dr. Christopher (Diane) Montgomery, of Lexington; a daughter, Terri (Grover) Mollineaux, of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Kevin, Megan (Bryan), Michael (Jessie), Andrew (Daniella), Erin (Blake), Audra (Evan), Jesse (Sarah) and Dr. Christine (David); and eight great-grandchildren.
MONTGOMERY — A memorial service for Caroline Jones Montgomery, who died Wednesday, May 21, 2025, will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, 5825 Heckert Road, in Gibsonia, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, with a visitation in Fellowship Hall beginning at 10 a.m. The Revs. Paul Becker and H. William Dambach will be officiating.
