Firefighters pull down one of the walls of a garage in Fairview Township that caught fire on Monday, Sept. 1. William Pitts/Butler Eagle

FAIRVIEW TWP — Fire crews from across Butler County were called to a fire at a detached garage on Cherry Road on Monday, Sept. 1.

The fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m.

“When we pulled up, the garage was fully involved,” said Zac Hack, assistant fire chief for the Chicora Volunteer Fire Department.

As part of their effort to control the fire, crews partially demolished the structure, tearing down one of the walls. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Hack said.

The owners of the nearby residence were able to evacuate when the fire began and were not injured, Hack said.

In addition to Chicora, fire departments from Petrolia, East Butler, Karns City, Sugarcreek Township, and the City of Butler responded to the scene.
