Woman LifeFlighted after bicycle crash at Alameda Park

A LifeFlight helicopter was dispatched to Alameda Park in Butler on Saturday, Aug. 30, to transport a woman to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after she crashed her bicycle on one of the park’s trails.

According to Mike Schmidt, chief of the Butler Township Volunteer Fire Department, her injuries were not life-threatening, but moderate. The crash took place near Blair Drive, “deeper into the park.”

“She had some type of trauma injury, and for some injuries it’s better to take them to a trauma center,” Schmidt said. “Butler Hospital doesn’t have that capability.”

In addition to Butler Hospital, the Butler Ambulance Service, VA Butler Fire and Emergency Services and Butler City Fire Department responded to the scene.
