Cranberry Township is about to kick off its annual slow down campaign that urges drivers to adhere to posted speed limits, especially in residential areas. Butler Eagle File Photo

Over a roughly two-week period starting Aug. 21 and running through Sept. 6, Cranberry Township will be host to hundreds of campaign and radar speed signs.

According to a release by the township, radar signs will be moved daily to different neighborhoods and will gather data that will be used to change the program or increase awareness of the initiative.

In addition to signs, township police will increase patrols in key areas, such as near schools, parks and residential areas. Officers will monitor speeds and enforce traffic laws to ensure drivers are adhering to reduced speed limits.

The campaign is hosted biannually in the township. The release said the fall campaign’s dates were chosen to coincide with Seneca Valley School District’s first day.
