Cherry Township garage deemed total loss following Wednesday fire

Six fire companies responded to a detached garage fire Wednesday night, Aug. 13, in Cherry Township.

Crews arrived to the fire at the 100 block of New Hope Road and quickly controlled the blaze, but the detached garage was a complete loss, according to Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company Chief Ryan Hanchosky.

The fire was reported around 7:30 p.m. The cause of the fire was undetermined and resulted in no injuries, according to Hanchosky.

He said the garage was used to store lawn mowers and other miscellaneous items. The detached garage fire did not endanger the main structure on the property, he said.

Crews were on scene just under an hour. Responding companies also included Marion Township Volunteer Fire Company, Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department, West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department and Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company.
