Evans City man has charges held after allegedly defecating in a pizza box
A state trooper recalled his experience investigating reports that a man defecated in a pizza box and served it to a restaurant at a Wednesday, Aug. 6, preliminary hearing.
Trooper David Buczek testified he was dispatched to the incident at a Connoquenessing Township restaurant and told to look in a pizza box in the left side of the dumpster. In the pizza box, he found one slice of pizza covered by human feces allegedly left by Michael Patrick Shipley, 37, of Evans City.
Shipley represented himself at his preliminary hearing before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz.
Shawn Crusan, an employee at the restaurant, testified he and one other employee were working when Shipley entered the restaurant and placed a pizza box on the counter.
Crusan said when Shipley told him the pizza was wrong, he offered to remake it and give him store credit or a refund. Shipley allegedly replied with expletives about the food then left. Crusan then opened the box — in front of customers — with the pizza slices and feces inside, put on gloves and removed it from the building.
Police said Shipley admitted to the act when they followed up with him over the phone. However, Shipley said police and employees did not witness him defecate into the pizza box.
Misdemeanor charges of open lewdness and disorderly conduct against Shipley were held for court. His formal arraignment is scheduled at 1 p.m. Sept. 23 in Butler County Common Pleas Courtroom 5.
