Victory Road bridge reopens after 3-month reconstruction
The bridge on Victory Road in Clinton Township is now open after a 99-day reconstruction project that saw the old bridge demolished and replaced.
The reconstruction project began April 21, when the bridge was closed to traffic, forcing drivers to make a detour. According to township manager Ashley Kohley, the project was relatively smooth. Originally estimated to take 90 days to complete, the project ultimately lasted 99 days.
“There were a few materials that were delayed, but other than that, it went really smoothly,” Kohley said.
The bridge, which takes motorists over Davis Run, is just over a mile north of Route 228 and is 26 feet long. Prior to demolition and reconstruction, the bridge had a poor safety rating from the state Department of Transportation.
“The bridge was failing, according to PennDOT inspections. Several beams were failing,” Kohley said. “They replaced the bridge decking.”
Northrock Construction, a company based in Cranberry Township, was the contractor on the project, having made the low bid of $218,000 for the construction and $18,000 for the demolition.
