Monroeville man accused of failing to return rented trailer

A Monroeville man is accused of failing to return a rented interstate dump trailer to a Jackson Township business.

Jonathan James Bracy, 27, was charged Monday, July 21, with one felony count each of theft and receiving stolen property following the July 9 incident.

Police said the business contacted them July 9 to report the rented trailer had not been returned since it was rented for 24 hours on July 3. Bracy was charged $183.17 per day for the rental.

Police contacted Bracy on July 9 about the dump trailer, and Bracy reportedly said he’d return it by midnight. The trailer was not returned the following day, and Bracy was given seven business days to return the trailer.

Police said the trailer was still not returned by July 21 at 17 days passed due. Police said the cost of the trailer was $8,995, and the late rental fee was valued at $3,113.89. The total loss the business sustained was $12,108.89.

Barcy’s preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
