Reports: Buffalo Township resident died Friday, found Monday along Armstrong County trail following quad accident

Michael H. McGuire

A Buffalo Township man was spraying weed killer to keep trails clear at a camp in Armstrong County when the quad he was driving flipped after hitting a ravine, according to state police.

Both the Armstrong County Coroner’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police have released more information on the death of Michael McGuire, 60, who was pronounced dead Monday, July 21, as the result of a four-wheeler crash in Madison Township in Armstrong County.

According to a news release, state police were called to the family’s camp on Scenic Road on Monday morning. McGuire’s wife had been unable to find him or establish contact with him by phone, police said.

Eventually, state troopers found McGuire’s body pinned underneath his quad along a trail. He was pronounced dead by Armstrong County Deputy Coroner Timothy Graham around 10:30 a.m.

According to a news release from the Armstrong County Coroner’s Office, McGuire was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The date and time of death was determined to be sometime on Friday, July 18, and the cause has been listed as an “accidental death.”

According to the Armstrong County Coroner’s Office, no autopsy will be performed, and a toxicology analysis will not be available for several weeks.
