Butler symphony brings Hobnob singers for Summer Concert Series

Hobnob Theatre Company will perform Shakespeare-inspired songs at noon Saturday, July 19, at the Butler County Symphony Orchestra office on Butler’s Main Street. The music also will be broadcast online and through speakers in Diamond Park.

Hobnob’s founders, Ken and Elizabeth Smith, chose music inspired by Shakespeare’s plays and poetry to perform for the summer series. Pieces performed at the concert will retell Shakespeare plays, monologues and sonnets, according to a news release from the symphony.

In October, actors from Hobnob will perform alongside the Butler County Symphony Orchestra for the season opener, Peter Boyer’s “Ellis Island: The Dream of America.” The show presents first-person narrations of seven stories of people who immigrated through Ellis Island, along with musical and visual components, the news release said.
