Historians to reenact 18th-century life Sept. 27 and 28

Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village. Submitted Photo

During Frontier Heritage Weekend at Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village, historians will demonstrate some of the essential skills that defined life on the frontier, such as blacksmithing and open-hearth cooking.

On Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27 and 28, the site, part of the Sen. John Heinz History Center’s family of museums, will host the event.

Visitors can step back in time and get an up-close look at the daily lives of 18th-century frontier families that lived in the region.

Guests can visit reconstructed Native American and colonial settler homesteads from the 1760s to see how the two cultures carried out daily life and how they connected through the fur trade.
