Traffic blocked on Pittsburgh Road following crash
Traffic was shut down on a stretch of Route 8 in Butler Township Wednesday afternoon as emergency crews removed a vehicle that rolled over and flipped over a guard rail.
The incident was first reported just before 4 p.m. near the intersection with Comfort Lane. Scanner reports indicated that the vehicle later caught fire, but the incident was cleared after less than 20 minutes when the driver refused medical treatment.
Shortly after 5 p.m., the Butler Township Volunteer Fire Department was called to block off a section of Route 8 between Comfort Lane and Decatur Drive, with vehicles sent on a detour onto Decatur Drive. According to both a Butler County dispatcher and a volunteer firefighter stationed at the Decatur Drive intersection, the road shutdown was connected to the earlier crash, as crews were still trying to remove the vehicle.
The road reopened shortly after 6 p.m.
