Wexford woman charged with driving under influence

State police have accused a Wexford woman of driving with a blood-alcohol content of .211 while carrying a 7-year-old child in her car in Franklin Township.

Tara M. Kern, 39, was charged with driving under the influence, as well as endangering the welfare of children, careless driving, driving below the minimum speed, failure to carry registration, and not staying in a single roadway while driving.

The incident occurred just after midnight on Friday, June 27th, when Pennsylvania State Police pulled over a gray Chevrolet Trax which was traveling well below the speed limit and moving erratically on US-422 in Franklin Township.

When stopped by police, the vehicle was also carrying two passengers — a male named James Lellock, and a 7-year-old boy.

Kern was transported to the Butler barracks and given a breath test, which put her BAC at .211, according to the police affidavit. Pennsylvania’s blood alcohol limit is 0.08%.

Kern’s preliminary arraignment and hearing are scheduled for 1:15 p.m. Aug. 6 in front of Judge Joseph J. Nash.
