Clay Wiesen was named the best defensive second baseman in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region last week.

The Slippery Rock junior was voted to the American Baseball Coaches Association’s regional all-defensive team. He’s the first SRU player to make the team since it was formed in 2023.

Wiesen started all 50 games this season and finished with a .995 fielding percentage. The Rock turned 27 double plays, the most since 2017, and Wiesen was involved in 23.

He also hit .289 with 19 runs, 23 RBIs and nine stolen bases.
