Learning center employee charged in assault of 3-year-old boy

A Cranberry Township learning center employee is accused of assaulting a 3-year-old boy during nap time, according to township police.

Joshua Aaron Branstetter, 26, of Wexford, was charged Tuesday, June 17, with felony child endangerment and misdemeanor simple assault following the alleged May 22 incident, police said.

Police said they received a ChildLine report May 28 regarding the alleged incident involving Branstetter, the assistant group supervisor at Allie Alligator Learning Center on Commerce Park Drive.

Police said Branstetter was seated next to a small elevated bed with the 3-year-old boy while patting his back. When the boy lifted his head to look at Branstetter, he forcefully pushed the boy back onto the bed causing his face to hit off the frame, according to the criminal complaint.
