1 in critical condition after Muddy Creek explosion
Explosion found to be caused by homemade fireworks
A 48-year-old Butler man is in critical condition after an explosion which took place on Wednesday afternoon, June 4, at a house on Sawyer Road in Muddy Creek Township.
The explosion took place shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. According to an updated news release, state police’s Hazardous Device and Explosives Section Unit determined that the explosion was caused by improvised explosive devices or homemade fireworks.
In the release, the man who sustained the serious injuries was said to be the suspect in causing the explosion.
In addition, another female at the scene was injured and reported to a hospital on her own. The nature of her injuries were not detailed.
