Pedestrian struck by car Friday in Harrisville

A pedestrian was transported to the hospital Friday evening around 5 p.m. after being struck by a vehicle on South Main Street in Harrisville.

Scanner reports at the time indicate emergency responders were initially trying to request helicopter transport for the pedestrian before both Stat MedEvac and LifeFlight both declined due to inclement weather.

The pedestrian was eventually transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Harrisville Mayor Daniel Anschutz posted on Facebook Friday evening asking for support.

“At this time, we ask everyone in the community to join us in keeping the victim, the driver and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers,” he said in the post. “Moments like this remind us just how fragile life can be — and how important it is to look out for one another.”

The incident caused a brief road closure lasting under an hour Friday night.

As of press time, no information on the status of the victim was available.
