Cranberry man arrested for aggravated assault, DUI
A Cranberry Township man is being held after an incident early Sunday morning, May 25, in which police said he repeatedly assaulted a woman after crashing his car in front of her apartment.
Mark A. Reisert, 59, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault; misdemeanor driving under the influence, simple assault and strangulation; and summary harassment, careless driving, driving without a license, failure to stop and render aid, and failure to notify police of an accident.
According to an affidavit in the case, the incident occurred shortly after midnight at an apartment complex in the 20000 block of Route 19 after Reisert crashed his white Toyota Camry into a parked black sedan which belonged to his neighbor.
According to the affidavit, a female neighbor came out to confront Reisert and he struck her multiple times in the face and strangled her, causing her to cry out for help. Another neighbor came to her aid, striking Reisert in the face twice and forcing him to flee the scene.
Officers later found Reisert hiding in the bathroom of another apartment and took him into custody. It was later determined Reisert had a blood-alcohol content of 0.178%, more than double the state’s legal limit of 0.08%.
Reisert is currently confined to Butler County Prison, in lieu of $50,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, June 6 in front of District Judge Kevin J. Flaherty.
