Middlesex Township OKs design for public water line expansion
MIDDLESEX TWP — The board of supervisors approved a proposal from engineering firm Herbert, Rowland & Grubic to prepare engineering plans for an expansion of a public water line from Route 8, along Browns Hill Road, to the municipal building.
While bidding for the project hasn’t started yet, preliminary estimates are that it would cost roughly $400,000 to install about 1,600 feet of water pipe.
The supervisors estimate that the township would receive a reimbursement of $600 from each resident who taps into the expanded water line, which would help to recoup the investment.
Public water would be provided by the Municipal Water Authority of Adams Township, which services parts of Middlesex, Forward, and Cranberry townships, along with all of Adams Township and Callery.
According to township manager Jeffrey Winkle, it won’t be known exactly how many homeowners will be affected by the water line expansion until the designs are finished.
