The Prospect Baseball youth club cut the ribbon on a new concession stand at Armstrong Field on Country Club Road in Franklin Township on Saturday, May 10.
The concession stand served as the annual project for the 2024 class of Leadership Butler County, a leadership development program which takes on at least one community project each year.
“Our class really wanted to pick a project that benefited children in the Butler community,” said Ian Hunter, co-chairman of the 2024 class. “We had a number of people who had presented projects to us, and the Prospect Baseball concession stand was the one that we had picked.”
Butler County Chamber of Commerce president Jordan Grady said the class raised more than $25,000 for the concession stand over an eight-month period.
“We raised the money that was needed for the project, and then the folks over Prospect Baseball got the quotes,” Hunter said. “It was an actual contractor who put the concession stand together.”
Hunter says that the new concession stand will boost fundraising for Prospect Baseball.
“The concession stand will help them fund that field and all the programs that they have there at that facility year over year,” Hunter said.
The ribbon cutting was initially scheduled for Sept. 25, but had to be pushed back due to inclement weather on that date.
