Lawrence Richard Mato, 89, of Butler, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 12, 1935, in Connellsville, Pa., he was the son to the late Joseph Mato and Barbara Jane (Soberdash) Mato.

Lawrence was a 1954 graduate of Stowe High School, now known as StoRocks High School. He attended the University of Tennessee. Lawrence was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as Airman 1st Class in Sacramento, Calif. Mr. Mato worked as an electronics technician at Addressograph Multigraph and Par Micro Systems, which was out of Rome, N.Y., retiring in 2001. He was a member of the North Main Street Church of God.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay (Pearce) Mato, whom he married Sept. 12, 2002; one son, Gregory Lawrence Mato and his wife, Karen, of Evans City; two daughters, Pamela Ann Krause and her husband, Steven, of Butler, and Deborah L. Kosinski of Gibsonia; ten grandchildren, Joseph Mato, Ian Mato, Haley Mato, Alexis Krause, Xavier (Bobbi) Krause, Arum Krause, Keenan Krause, Nathan Kosinski, Madeline Kosinski and Alaina Kosinski; one great-grandson, expected in July; his best buddy, Nico; and his brother-in-law, Gary Pearce.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion Hazel (Schmidt) Mato; and one sister, Patricia Ellen (Mato) Oshop.

MATO — Friends of Lawrence Richard Mato, who died Friday, May 9, 2025, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St., Butler, with Pastor Brandon Lenhart officiating. All are asked to please meet at the church.

Burial, with full military honors accorded by the Butler County Honor Guard, will take place in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorial donations in Lawrence's name to either North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St., Butler, PA 16001 or Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.
