Carolyn J. “Sammy” Gibson McElravy, 82, of Karns City, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 10, 2025, at Sugar Creek Rest in Worthington.

Carolyn was born in Butler on July 22, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Cecil Leroy and Mary Margaret “Peg” Wagner Gibson.

She was a graduate of Karns City Area High School, and had attended Karns City Church of God of Prophecy. In her earlier years, she was employed by ServiStar and Montgomery Wards Service Center, and later was a nurses aide at Chicora Medical Center and retired from Sunnyview Nursing Home. Carolyn enjoyed spending summers outside, holidays with her family, vacations at the beach with her sister and collecting lighthouses.

She is survived by three sons, Randy Lee McElravy Jr., Eric Scott McElravy and Kirk Alan McElravy; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Carolyn was looking forward to the birth of her sixth great-grandchild soon. She also is survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Michael Gibson; two sisters, Peggy Hilliard and Dawn Kepple; an infant daughter, Cecilia Ann; a grandson, Randy Lee McElravy III; and her sons’ father and former husband, Randy Lee McElravy Sr.

MCELRAVY — Friends of Carolyn J. “Sammy” Gibson McElravy, 82, of Karns City, who passed away Saturday afternoon, May 10, 2025, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at HILE FUNERAL HOME of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City.

A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Bishop Alan Ion, pastor of Karns City Church of God of Prophecy, officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.

Memorial contributions in Carolyn’s name may be made to a veterans charity of ones choice.
