County team crowns 50th Dairy Royalty Court
The Butler County Dairy Promotion Team’s practice of crowning an annual Dairy Royalty Court is a half-century old.
While the team has named a royal court each year for the past 50 years, the Dairy Princess program is only 42 years old.
Earning the Dairy Princess title for 2024-25 is Mercedes Guynup, 19, of Butler. She is the daughter of Marybeth Guynup.
Mercedes is a 2023 Butler Senior High School graduate who works on her family’s farm, Bergbigler Dairy, which raises and milks 120 head of Holstein dairy cattle.
Dairy Ambassador is Sarah Bupp of Prospect. She is the daughter of Deb and Mike Bupp.
Dairy Maid is Margaret LeViere of Portersville. She is the daughter of Lisa and Shawn LeViere.
Dairy Misses are Emmalyn Schaffner, daughter of Katharine and Jonathon Schaffner, of Butler; and Reagan Zanaglio, daughter of Glenna and Robert Zanaglio Jr., of Carbon Center.
Lil’ Dairy Misses are Elizabeth LeViere, daughter of Lisa and Shawn LeViere, of Portersville; and Lydia Ambrose, daughter of Ann and Lee Ambrose, of Fenelton.
At the Dairy Royalty Court celebration, the team made a $2,000 donation to Marburger Farm Dairy in Evans City to provide fresh milk and other dairy products to clients of the Mount Chestnut Food Pantry.
The team also recognized Butler County’s remaining 23 dairy farms.
