Sharon Christy hopes to get at least 18 to 20 foursomes for an upcoming golf outing that will benefit local veterans emerging from homelessness.

The Butler County Veterans in Need Benefit Golf Outing will begin at 8 a.m. June 15 at Aubrey’s Dubbs Dred Golf Course, 124 Aubrey Drive, Butler Township.

Golfers will pay $75 each or $300 per team for the four-person scramble.

Skins, mulligans and 50/50 and basket raffles will be available at the event, which includes lunch.

Prizes for first, second and third places in various skills also will be awarded.

Shotgun start will be at 9 a.m.

All proceeds will benefit Veterans in Need, which provides furniture to veterans emerging from homelessness and one-time financial assistance to veterans experiencing a catastrophic expense.

“I feel like it’s a good cause, and I believe in what they do,” said Christy, whose husband was on the original members of the Veterans in Need board of directors.

The golf outing typically brings in around $4,000 for Veterans in Need, and Christy hopes to eclipse that number this year.

Golfers can sign up ahead of time or at the outing. To sign up, call Christy at 724-822-4831. Payment methods are cash, Venmo or check, but only cash will be accepted on the day of the outing.
