BC3 adopts policy regarding military tuition assistance
BUTLER TOWNSHIP — Butler County Community College’s board of trustees unanimously agreed to adopt a policy from the Department of Defense regarding tuition assistance for military students at a meeting Wednesday, May 15.
The Department of Defense’s policy states that upon withdrawing from the college, a student may no longer be eligible for the full amount of Military Tuition Assistance funds initially awarded.
BC3 is required to return “any unearned tuition assistance funds on a prorate basis through at least the 60% portion of the period for which the funds were provided.”
The funds are returned to the military service branch.
“Instances when a service member stops attending due to a military service obligation, the College will work with the affected service member to identify solutions that will not result in student debt for the returned portion,” the policy states.
