Knoch approves work change orders

JEFFERSON TWP — Knoch School Board approved several work change orders to the district’s high school renovation project during a meeting on Wednesday, May 8 following recommendations presented by John Pappas of Eckles Construction earlier this month.

Among other directives, board directors approved the rental of a chain-link fence for graduation at a cost of $2,748. The temporary fence would separate the portion of the high school track undergoing renovation from guests visiting the school for commencement.

At a workshop meeting May 1, Pappas told the school board he expects work on the high school track area to be completed in time for fall sports season.

Wednesday evening, the board also voted to repair a damaged terracotta line at a cost of $4,401, and approved a work change order for a camera investigation of broken terracotta pipe at a cost of $6,100.

Additionally, the board approved a work change order costing $1,357 for the fabrication of a steel beam.

Wednesday evening, superintendent David Foley explained a water line had been struck last Tuesday while contractors dug a trench. The water company was able to make repairs in less than two hours, during which administrators kept students in school.

Underground work will continue into the summer.
