Woman accused of pushing police officer, CYS worker

A Butler woman was accused of pushing a police officer and a Children & Youth Services employee Friday, April 12, according to charges filed by Butler Township police.

Jeannette L. Fleeger, 47, of Butler, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and misdemeanors child endangerment and resisting arrest after an alleged incident at a home on Evans City Road.

Police said they arrived at the residence with a CYS employee to speak with Fleeger about an earlier incident.

Police said a child answered the door and then summoned Fleeger. Police said Fleeger allowed the officer and CYS employee to come inside.

Police said Fleeger showed signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, walked with an unsteady gait and answered questions incoherently. The smell of alcohol was detected on her, documents show, and an open wine bottle was seen on the floor within reach of the child in the home.

Documents show Fleeger became irate during questioning and yelled at the officer and CYS worker to leave her home. Police said Fleeger was informed they would not leave the child in the care of a person who appeared intoxicated.

Police said Fleeger pushed the CYS worker toward the door and then pushed the investigating police officer in the chest. Fleeger resisted being handcuffed and had to be taken to the ground by other responding officers, according to documents.

While trying to restrain Fleeger, documents show, a responding officer suffered a laceration to his hand.

Fleeger’s preliminary hearing before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell is scheduled Thursday.
