Woman accused of assaulting 3 employees at BMH
A Zelienople woman is accused of assaulting three employees, including spitting on one employee’s face, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Michele Lynn Cannon, 61, was charged Thursday, July 30, by Butler Township police with two felony aggravated assault counts and three misdemeanor simple assault counts following an incident Wednesday night.
Police said the incident began with Cannon creating a disturbance and throwing trash in the hospital waiting room while waiting for a ride. Police said while Cannon was being pushed in a wheelchair to the security hallway, she began swinging her shoe above her head and struck two employees. Police said Cannon then slapped one of the employees in the face.
Another employee went to check on Cannon when they heard her yelling in the hallway, police said. The employee found Cannon outside and said Cannon attempted to strike her, but the employee blocked it and held her arms.
While holding Cannon’s arms, police said Cannon spit on the employee’s face.
Cannon is being held in Butler County Prison on a $30,000 bail. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Aug. 13 before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell.
