New York man charged with burglary

A New York man was jailed in lieu of $40,000 bond Saturday after he was arrested for allegedly forcing his way into a woman’s Cranberry Township apartment and taking her cellphone.

Joseph A. Wilson, 19, of West Babylon, N.Y., was placed in the county jail after township police charged him with felony counts of burglary and criminal trespass, a misdemeanor charge of theft and a summary harassment charge.

The woman told police Wilson pushed open her unlocked door, screamed at her, accused her of cheating on him, grabbed her cellphone from her and tried to leave, according to an affidavit.

The woman told police she tried to get her phone back, but Wilson shoved her, fought with her and then left the apartment.

During the fight for the phone, a second woman tried to lock Wilson out of the apartment, but he tried to force the door open, according to the affidavit. Police said no one was injured.
