Knoch Middle School student council to donate to Orphans of the Storm

As part of a service project, Knoch Middle School’s student council collected 515 pet care supplies for animal nonprofit Orphans of the Storm to be donated during spring break.

“We knew kids have a love for animals, so we chose to have our project benefit Orphans of the Storm,” said student council president Molly Snow.

“Orphans of the Storm is a lot less known about than other similar shelters,” said council member Ryan Karwoski. “The workers are all volunteers, and it is a no-kill shelter, which was important to us. They will keep an animal as long as it takes to find it a home.”

According to student council adviser Jessie Hitchcock, the students wanted to undertake a service project that “benefited some portion of the community, rather than just the school.”

Orphans of the Storm is based in Kittanning.
