History Center’s new exhibition to explore stories of barrier-breaking women

The Smithsonian-affiliated Senator John Heinz History Center will take an unprecedented deep dive into the lives of women who helped change the world in its new exhibition, “A Woman’s Place: How Women Shaped Pittsburgh.”

The exhibition opened March 23, allowing visitors to take an interactive journey through women’s history from the early 1800s to present, showcasing the stories of entrepreneurs, activists, artists, athletes, scientists and others.

Through more than 250 artifacts, immersive experiences and archival images, “A Woman’s Place” is intended to show how women have made Pittsburgh and the world a better place.

The history center will host special programs through the exhibit’s run, including events on May 5 and 23 and June 30.

The exhibit will be on view through Oct. 6. Access to the exhibition is included with regular admission.
