Tourism bureau to have 5 vehicles at Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix may not be coming to Butler County this year, but Butler County is coming to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix.

The Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau will bring a collection of five antique American Bantam vehicles to the event at Pittsburgh’s Schenley Park on Aug. 3 and 4.

American Bantam was the Butler-based automobile company credited with the invention of the Jeep during World War II. The company was in business from 1935 to 1956.

“The bureau is proud to contribute our American Bantam vehicles to this event,” said Bureau President Jack Cohen, who is retiring soon. “It’s part of our heritage, history and region and it’s the bureau’s responsibility to raise awareness about how Butler County has impacted this country and the world.”
