Geibel Bridge to be replaced
The state Department of Transportation unveiled plans Wednesday, Feb. 7, to replace the single-span bridge carrying Geibel Road over Bonnie Brook in Summit Township.
The project is in the final stages of design, and work is slated to begin in summer 2025. The work will take about four to five months to complete, during which there will be a detour around the construction zone.
The new bridge will be a single-span rolled steel beam bridge on integral abutments. The improved roadway and bridge will provide two 10-foot lanes with 2-foot shoulders on each side, according to a presentation by PennDOT.
The current construction cost estimate is between $850,000 and $1.25 million, PennDOT said.
