Elmer G. Christy, 80, formerly of Freeport, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

He was born Dec. 17, 1943, in Natrona Heights, son of Elmer J. and Lois (Negley) Christy.

Elmer was a former member of the Slate Lick Presbyterian Church. He was a tool and die maker and worked at several machine shops in the area. He retired from Magnetics in Butler.

Elmer was a member of Masonic Lodge 239. He enjoyed football, baseball, fishing and hunting, working on his hot rod, gunsmithing, making knives and watching old Westerns.

Surviving are his wife, Carole Ann (Hosey) Christy of Cabot; two sons, Jeff (Kristen) Christy of Saxonburg and Greg (Lori) Christy of Freeport; grandchildren, Nicolette, Mac and Kennedy Christy; stepgrandchildren, Jessica and Patrick Fox; great-grandson, Jamison Macfee; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Jaxton Lutz, Jepson, Jemma and Jude Haimer; three brothers, Gary Christy, Meredith (Marge) Christy and Tom Christy, all of Freeport; and one sister, Melody (Bill) Di Emidio of Freeport.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Marcia Ann Fox.

CHRISTY — Friends of Elmer G. Christy, who died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, will be welcomed from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at WELCH FUNERAL SERVICE, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Adam Salinas officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Airy Cemetery, Harrison Township.
