Carnegie Science Center renamed after $65 million grant
The Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh was awarded a $65 million grant from local real estate entrepreneur Daniel Kamin and his wife, Carole. As a result, the Science Center will now carry their names, being officially renamed the “Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Science Center.”
Kamin has been a visitor to science museums in Pittsburgh since the days of the Buhl Planetarium and Institute of Popular Science, the predecessor to the current-day science museum which opened in 1991.
“Dan and Carole have been generous supporters of our museums for many years, and with this unprecedented gift they are further establishing their legacy as true leaders in Pittsburgh’s philanthropic community,” said Steven Knapp, president and CEO of the Carnegie Museums.
