Library program featuring Yiddish authors

A book club at the Butler Area Public Library will encourage participants to reflect on themes of displacement and diaspora.

The Stories of Exile series is a reading program sponsored by the Yiddish Book Center and facilitated by public libraries across the country. The local program will include book and film discussions, speakers and events.

The first book the program will cover is “The Glatstein Chronicles,“ by Yiddish poet Jacob Glatstein, a novel inspired by a 1934 trip from Glatstein’s home in New York to his native Poland.

All programs are free and open to the public. For information, contact information services manager Anita Bowser at abowser@bcfls.org, or visit butlerlibrary.info.
