Carol McIlvain
Carol “Joyce” McIlvain, 82, of Butler passed away on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024.
She was born in Butler on June 24, 1941, to the late Arthur and Olive (Gibson) Emery.
Joyce graduated from Butler High School in 1959 and worked at the Butler County Assistance Office until she retired in 2004. She was known for her love of all Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Penguins, with her favorite player being Sidney Crosby. Joyce was active and kept a meticulous home, where she prepared Sunday dinners for her family. She was loved and will be forever missed.
She was the mother of Steve Jackson, Cherly (Tim) Watt, John McIlvain and Shawn McIlvain; sister of Janice Gerner and Brenda Million; grandmother to Caitlin (Jake) Lauer and Kristen Watt; and great-grandmother to Wes and Piper Lauer.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John McIlvain, in 1997, whom she married in 1968; and her siblings, Dale Emery, Arthur Emery Jr., Joann Everette, Donald Emery and Francis Emery.
MCILVAIN — Family and friends of Carol “Joyce” McIlvain, who died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Parish, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler.
Burial will be at St. Michael Roman Catholic Cemetery.
