William Mottern
William C. Mottern, 76, of Boyers, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
He was born Aug. 4, 1947, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late William B. Mottern and Edith (MacEwing) Mottern.
He was a 1966 graduate of North Allegheny High School and had worked in the bank equipment and security industry. Following his retirement, he worked for Campbell Bus Lines as a bus driver. He also was a small-business owner, having rental houses in the Butler area. He was on the board of the Grove City Sportsmen’s Club, was a member of the Lawrence County Sportsman’s Association and had been an avid gun enthusiast.
He had served in the U.S. Coast Guard in Alaska and then in Virginia.
Surviving are his wife, Linda V. (Hopf) Mottern, whom he married Sept. 3, 1970; one daughter, Charlene Motonis (Joe); one son, Vince Mottern (Keith Presty); two grandchildren, JR Motonis and Melina Motonis; one niece, Tracy Budzynski; and one nephew, Joe Demma.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janet M. Demma.
MOTTERN — Friends of William C. Mottern, who died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. No services are planned at this time.
