Wanda Acre
Wanda Jean Acre, 87, of Saxonburg passed away on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024.
Born Aug. 22, 1936, in Butler, she was the daughter of Howard Christy Robb and Alice Elizabeth Michael Robb.
Wanda had worked as a registered nurse for Allegheny Valley Hospital, retiring in 1996 after 30 years. She was a member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Sarver, the Bonnets and Bifocals of the Red Hat Society, ladies card clubs and craft class. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, needlework, travel and going to lunch with her friends. She was a very proud of the number of blankets she made for the Linus Foundation.
Surviving are her daughter, Christine (Lewis) Machen of New Kensington; four sons, Wesley (Lisa) Acre of Saxonburg, Raymond Acre of Anchorage, Alaska, Darryl (Beth) Acre of Tarentum and Keith (Marsha) Acre of Butler; her sister, Elizabeth Ann (Robb) Bittinger, of Baden; two wonderful nieces, Chery (Bittinger) Belli of New Kensington and Beverly (Bittinger) Cobern of Baden; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sidney Wesley Acre Jr.; one brother, Charles Clifford Robb; and one great-grandson, Tyler Machen.
A special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice for all the heartfelt and loving care given to our mother. The nurses are remarkable.
ACRE — Friends of Wanda Jean Acre, who died Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 678 Sarver Road, Sarver.
Funeral services will follow at noon with the Rev. Jerry Pawloski officiating.
