Kathryn L. Montgomery, 66, of Grove City, passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Kathy was born Dec. 6, 1957, in Cowen, W.Va. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Evelyn Knight Bennett.

Kathy married Robert Montgomery on July 1, 2023, and he survives.

Kathy worked for many years as a home health aide and most recently was owner of Nacho Mama’s Tacos Food Truck. Kathy loved to be with her family, especially her grandbabies and cooking a wonderful meal for them. She looked forward to camping trips. Kathy was happiest gardening with her dog running around. She lived to take care of others and was a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan.

Loved ones to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert, of Grove City; her children David and Jen Freed of Volant, Bobbie Jo and Jeremy Tidd of Polk, and Amy and Jason Thompson of Slippery Rock; her stepchildren, Heath and Casey Montgomery of Berlin, Pa., Brett and Jess Montgomery of Chambersburg and Nicole Montgomery and her companion, Jared Rhoads, of Summerset. Also surviving are Kathy’s brothers, Freeman Bennett of West Virginia, Larry Bennett of Ohio and Lester Bennett of Volant; her sister, Violet Carpenter of Ohio; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Olivia Freed, Leslie Newburn, Bobby Waite, Arthur Newburn, Kelsey Sullivan, Zack Thompson and Shane Thompson; her stepgrandchildren, Caden, Conner, Devin, Abigail and Seth Montgomery, Ava Rush and Cash Tinkey; and her great-grandchildren, Bronson Waite and Evelyn Newburn.

Kathy was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Frank and Evelyn Bennett; her brother Delmas Bennett; and sisters Patty Showalter, Sue Martin and Frances Holmes.

MONTGOMERY — The family of Kathryn L. Montgomery, who died Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, will be hosting a celebration of Kathy’s life at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crossroads Baptist Church, 302 Harmony Road, Slippery Rock.

They suggest in lieu of flowers memorial donations in Kathy’s honor be sent to the Stanley Snyder VFW Post 7465, 1470 Brent Road, Volant, PA 16156 and also to Crossroads Baptist Church.

The LARRY E. MCKINLEY FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.
